Gilbert, AZ – Dec. 3, 2015–BestCompaniesAZ is joining with Career Connectors to offer a series of career coaching workshops Dec. 8 through Feb. 17 for Arizona military veterans, Reservists and National Guard members, and their families. The goal of these workshops is to help job seekers strengthen their skills for finding a great career with one of Arizona’s many military-friendly employers.
The first of these workshops is taking place Tues., Dec. 8, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Central Christian Church– Gilbert, Student Center, 965 E. Germann Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85297. Career Expert and Motivational speaker Dayna Mathews is addressing, “New Year, New You: 5 Steps to Creating a Bombshell Personal Brand in 2016.” Hiring companies include Charles Schwab, CVS, Liberty Mutual, and Hotfoot Recruiters. Workshops include personal branding tips, interviewing techniques, resume preparation, LinkedIn profile development, and translation of military skill sets into civilian careers. For participants who want to get feedback on their resume and brush up on their interviewing skills, these events also offer career experts, networking and motivational speakers. Job seekers will also be able to access information on the Veterans Economic Communities Initiative whose main goal is outreach and engagement in the Phoenix metro area. This initiative connects job seekers and employers with robust tools and valuable resources for transitioning service members, Veterans and their families as it relates to VA Benefits and employment including the eBenefits online Skills Translator.
In addition to the workshops, BestCompaniesAZ is supporting members of the military by sponsoring its annual Military Career Event on Feb. 17, 2016, one of the largest veteran hiring events in the state, in conjunction with the PGA TOUR’s Waste Management Phoenix Open and Birdies for the Brave®. Last year’s event offered more than 1,000 opportunities to Arizona veterans, National Guard (Active and Reserves), military family members and significant others. Many of who attended made valuable contacts and found rewarding careers.
