Quarles & Brady is an award-winning, full-service law firm that services both corporate and individual clients ranging from small entrepreneurial businesses to Fortune 100 companies, with practice focuses in health care, business law, intellectual property, labor and employment, real estate, data privacy and security, complex litigation, among others.
At Quarles & Brady, we are leaders in mentoring and developing outstanding, diverse attorneys, with percentages of women and diverse partners and associates exceeding national averages. Women and diverse attorneys head four of our ten offices, including our largest. The law firm is routinely ranked among the best law firms for women and diverse attorneys, family-friendly policies, informal training, and other categories that help promote a diverse workplace.
While we are proud of our efforts and the accolades that we have received, we foster inclusion through diversity because it helps achieve the best results for our clients. We employ diversity of thought, creativity, and experience to understand our clients’ objectives and serve as trusted advisors. A diverse workplace helps us to reflect and give back to the communities in which we practice.
Through volunteer initiatives, there are many opportunities for attorneys and staff to commit themselves personally to civic and charitable efforts. The primary areas of emphasis are projects that relate to hunger and education, but whatever the cause, the focus of this program is about hands-on volunteerism.
The goal is for employees to feel connected to the bigger vision of the organization they are helping to grow. That’s why Quarles & Brady is committed to a multi-faceted communication program. In addition to weekly updates, each month everyone gets a blog post from the Firm, a synopsis of discussion points from that month’s Executive Committee meeting, and the employee electronic newsletter. Offices regularly hold “Town Halls” and bi-annual state-of-the-firm video conferences for all employees to round out the picture on plans, insights and accomplishments. Video conferencing capabilities allow us to crisply connect individuals at every office in our network and reinforce the rally cry of “one long hallway.”
Through the health club and healthy living reimbursements, employees can earn points each month by engaging in activities that apply toward health insurance premium discounts.
Life is made easier through 80 hours of back-up elder, adult and child care per year.
A pro bono program enables attorneys to apply time toward their hours tally, encouraging participation.
Quarles & Brady University supports Associates on the path to success by participation in the QBU program which is segmented by Mid and Senior level Associate. All of the early Associates are also paired with a mentor to help guide them and develop their skills.
The Partner Development Program provides significant learning experiences to high-potential partners. A collaboration with Notre Dame and with the Kellogg School of Management provides intense, thoughtful and meaningful experiences. The learning continues when back in the office, bolstered by small group meetings and ongoing exchange. Regularly, top firm leaders are sent to a Harvard leadership program, enhancing their development and that of the firm.
Career interest discussions occur at annual evaluations and interim meetings throughout the year. Jobs and professional development training opportunities are posted on the intranet, frequently promoting from within at the supervisory and management level. Memberships are underwritten for professional and trade organizations, job-related seminars/webinars and ongoing, in-house technical learning opportunities are offered by the firm’s training staff.
