Mail, Specialty and PBM
The Managed Care Pharmacy Technicians for our pharmacy benefit management and mail-order business with CVS Caremark use innovative technology to provide high-quality care. You will help patients understand and manage prescriptions—ultimately contributing to their health and well-being.
You can play a critical part in the delivery of highly individualized care to patients with complex conditions—those who need it most. Delivering care to those who need it most, our Coram specialty and home infusion pharmacies provide vital infusion services and expert support to tens of thousands of Americans each month.
CVS Health was the first employer to launch a Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship program for pharmacy technicians in 2005 and retail store management (2008). Since then, CVS Health, increased its occupations of apprenticeship training to include Pharmacy Technician for our Prescription Benefits Management (PBM business 2016) and Logistics Supervisor (2017). We have more than 11,000 apprentices in 20 states, with the top locations being Michigan and South Carolina.
Here are standard requirements we seek in a candidates background, and their ability to obtain a technician trainee license from the state.
Education – High school diploma or equivalent
Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of Arizona or a Pharmacy Technician in Training with the Arizona Board of Pharmacy license (with signed addendum letter).
Attention and Focus – The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
Customer Service Orientation – Actively look for ways to help people, and do so in a friendly manner
Notice and understand customers’ reactions, and respond appropriately
Communication Skills – Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with customers and colleagues
Actively listening by giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
Mathematical Reasoning – The ability to use math to solve a problem, such as calculating day’s supply of a prescription
Problem Resolution – Is able to judge when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong; recognizing there is a problem
Choosing the best course of action when faced with a complex situation with several available options
What you need to know from the AZ State Board of Pharmacy:
Is a Pharmacy Technician license required? Yes, the State Board of Pharmacy in Arizona requires pharmacy technicians to obtain a license before working in a pharmacy. This licensure requirement is unique to the State of Arizona.
Arizona Pharmacy Technician Licensure Requirements:
- You have to be a citizen or a legal resident of the United States
- You must possess a High School Diploma or the equivalent.
- A written application requesting a Pharmacy Technician registration must be submitted to the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy
- If you have any misdemeanor or felony charges, it must be stated in the application form.
