Question: What is your role at Schwab and why do you enjoy the work you do?

Answer: I’ve been at Schwab for 12 years, and have been in my current role for three. I work for Schwab Charitable, which is the non-profit arm of Schwab. Schwab Charitable helps donors and advisors turn charitable aspirations into impactful realities. We do this by offering a donor advised fund (DAF) account which enables donors the ability to potentially eliminate capital gains tax and claiming a tax deduction if they itemize. Our goal at Schwab Charitable is to get charitable giving beyond 2% of GDP. (Gross Domestic Product)

As for my specific role, I talk to clients and advisors about how they can be more strategic with their philanthropic goals. I love my work. It’s my dream job.

Question: You’re the co-chair of the Indianapolis chapter of the Women’s Interactive Network at Schwab (WINS). Tell us about your experience with WINS and why it’s important to you.

Answer: I’ve had the great fortune of being the co-chair of WINS in Indianapolis for eight years now. For those who don’t know, WINS is an employee resource group (ERG) for women and those who support women in our industry. Every career opportunity I’ve had at Schwab is a direct result of my engagement with WINS. The group has allowed me to expand my reach beyond my home office of Indianapolis. WINS has helped me cross-collaborate, meet people all over the country and establish what is now an extensive network of Schwabbies.

I’m also really excited about the work WINS does for others. We do amazing community events. We support each other professionally. I really believe people should join the ERG(s) that they are most passionate about and get engaged in their community at work.

Question: What do you like to do outside of work?

Answer: I am a volunteer. I serve on several non-profit boards in my community. And the volunteer/service aspect of Schwab is another reason I love it here. In my free time, I enjoy distance riding on my bike and I practice yoga an hour a day. I like to say these activities are the most freeing experiences I have.

Question: Why do you love working at Charles Schwab?

Answer: For me, the best part of working at Charles Schwab is the people. Hands down, the people. I just have so many incredible friendships. People are supportive and kind. When we say we see through clients’ eyes, we really do mean it. It comes from the heart. I hope I stay with Schwab forever.
