Aug. 18, 2015 – USAA ranked as No. 3 among the “Best Workplaces in Insurance” based on an anonymous survey of more than 86,000 insurance industry employees conducted by FORTUNE® and Great Place to Work®.
“I am proud to work for USAA because we live by our mission statement,” says Wendy Wallen, director of injury claims and head of the veteran hiring and development program for USAA Property and Casualty Insurance Group. “In addition to being an insurance provider to military members and veterans, we want to be their employer. USAA’s commitment to hire and retain veterans and military spouses allows us to create programs such as Combat to Claims and a leadership program for veterans who were senior non-commissioned officers.”
In addition to insurance, USAA provides banking, investments and retirement products to more than 11 million members.
USAA and the nine other winning companies were selected based on the evaluations of insurance employees who were surveyed using the Trust Index©, Great Place to Work’s employee assessment survey. The 10 Best Workplaces in Insurance ranking is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE® based entirely upon employee survey feedback from published Great Place to Work® Reviews.
“The companies on this list are leaders in the insurance field who recognize the strategic importance of creating workplaces that attract and support the best talent within and outside their industry,” says Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work® United States. “As a group, they are particularly successful compared with their peers at sharing financial rewards with their employees, involving people in decisions that affect them and distributing promotions based on merit. Ranking on this list is a great indicator that these companies’ ongoing efforts to create great workplaces are resonating with their staff.”
USAA provides insurance, banking, investment and retirement products and services to 9.8 million members of the U.S. military and their families.
