One of our greatest strengths is promoting from within the organization. In fact, nearly 300 employees were promoted in Arizona in 2018. Our Arizona leadership team aspires to foster an environment that emphasizes career growth opportunities in order to prepare employees for the next step in their careers. The Farmers MentorshipProgram creates value for mentees through expanding their network, developing meaningful relationships, and gaining knowledge and new skills. leaders have built out an innovative, proactive program for the new hire on-boarding process that involves a number of internal support areas and a specific management leader. The program provides ample support to employees and integrates them into the Farmers® Family before they even step foot on-site for their first day of work.

Inclusion initiatives, investment in employee development, and a people-central environment have become the secret sauce for employee engagement. This intentional approach to driving a positive and engaged culture has resulted in recognition within the organization and externally. At the core of our organizational culture is a growth mindset. In support of this, Farmers has a variety of development initiatives available to employees seeking professional growth. Recognizing the importance ofeducation, Farmers offers tuition reimbursement assistance, and works with some universities catering to professional and adult learners to help provide discounts and tuition grants, allowing eligible employees the opportunity to pursue higher education. For industry-specific education, there’s also the University of Farmers®,which is a branch of the organization designed to provide training for licensing, professional development,leadership development, and change management.
Corporate and Social Responsibility
Giving back to local communities isn’t just a practice, it is who we are. Thousands of Farmers employees donate their time to make a difference in the communitiesFarmers is privileged to serve. In fact, in 2018, employees gave over 1,500 hours of community service in Arizona. The Farmers Community Champions are a team of dedicated employees that have formed a volunteer chapter to uphold Farmers commitment to give back. The purpose of the chapters is to support our three corporate giving pillars – Education, Disaster Resilience, and Civic Engagement – and to help keep local offices aware of community initiatives. Our FCC leads commit to joining monthly calls to stay up to speed with corporate initiatives and then help us execute on a local level.
Traditionally, at times of catastrophe, our CAT (Catastrophe Response Team) sends its Mobile Claims Centervehicles to the heart of the impacted location to help support those who may have suffered a major loss. At Farmers, we continuously try to innovate to go above and beyond the expectations of our customers, as well as stand out among all other insurance companies. One of our Property Field Claims Representatives came up with the idea to develop a formal program to have therapy dogs at sites alongside our CAT vehicles to administer emotional care to those going through a difficult time in the wake of a disaster, and we now work with the organization Pet Partners to do just that. The collaboration with PetPartners is a great example of an environment at Farmers that fosters empowerment of individuals to innovate, share their ideas, and execute on them to drive Farmers forward.
